| Sad News |
|
Today we come with sad news from the dialysis
community. The life of a kidney dialysis/kidney
transplant patient is difficult and it is not
without risk. We as patients and our friends and
loved ones know we walk a thin line between life
and death.
As this year ends, we regret to say that we have
lost 3 of our friends who inspired us to create
this site.
Robert passed in late summer. We will never
forget his spirit or his laugh. Robin passed in
early December and will be missed for her smile
and charm. Both Robert and Robin where on dialsis
and waiting for kidneys. Tom passed in late
December, sucessfully having a transplant, he
succomed to cancer. Tom was a gentle sweet man
who always had time and encouragement for others.
We in the dialysis community share a unique bond
and come to care for each other in a special way.
These three will be missed for their courage and
their inspiration to others. We will remember each
of them fondly and we are glad that even for a
short period of time they enriched our lives.
May those of you who read this be blessed in the
new year. We will continue to post here and
continue to bring awarness of kidney disease to
others.

WALK FOR AWARENESS |
|
If you have read all the info on this site, you
know we are trying to orgainze a "Walk For
Awarness"
in August 2005. We are NOT seeking funds, but we
ARE seeking support from the community. We would
like to see this become an annual event. We want
to get members of the Dialysis Community, Medical
Community, Transplant Community and the General
Public together to spread Kidney Disease Awarness
and the link between HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE and
KIDNEY DISEASE.
We are hoping that this event would take place
possibly at
Reid Park or Reid Park Zoo or some other Tucson
location. We would
like to have free blood pressure testing and
information about nutrition available. We would
like representation from dialysis clinics
available to discuss dialysis options (HD and
PD). We would like to have representation from
organ doner assoications and organ recipients,
But
most of all, we just want participation to help
spread the word that if you have untreated high
blood pressure you are at risk. PLEASE, PLEASE,
PLEASE...join us. If you are in a postion to
offer a service (ie, blood pressure testing, etc.)
and want to be part of the Awarness Program.
Contact us at kda@zoomshare.com
THANK YOU
